Will my Lakers make it?
I’ve been getting progressively more and more tired. These NBA playoffs really need to stop so I can get back to work on my thesis. See, I’m a big Laker fan and they have been so inconsistent recently that it’s hard on the heart. One day they are the best team in basketball and the next game they look more like the Clippers.
I want to cut them some slack for this year though. Their entire bench went south on them at the same time. They went from having one of the best benches in the league to one of the worst over the second half of the season. Part of this has to do with Andrew Bynum coming back and taking a very long time to get his game up to par. He still hasn’t gotten there yet. Coming off of a major injury and still only being 21 you have to expect that. But his return has thrown off any rhythm the Lakers bench had.
This isn’t even talking about Jordan Farmar who has had a hell of a year trying to come back from major knee surgery. He hasn’t been the same since he came back. And the other guard Shannon Brown only came over in a trade late in the season, so he doesn’t even have the triangle down yet. Let’s not talk about Sasha Vujacic who hasn’t been the same since Ray Allen crossed him over in game 4 of last years finals…
The team as a whole is really struggling. And as much as I would love for them to win it all, it doesn’t look like they are going to make it. One thing that you can say about them though is that they do play every other game really well. Theoretically you can win a title that way. Unlikely but possible.
I hope Nike still keeps going with the Kobe and LeBron room mate puppet series though. (Cause I don’t think the Cavs are making it past the Magic either) The ad above is the funniest of the three so far.
But I must say this: if it comes down to a Magic / Nuggets final, I sure as hell ain’t pulling for the Nuggets. They take strutting to a whole ‘nother level… Anyways… we still have a chance. We’re still breathing.
