twenty oh nine
So it’s a new year. I had a wonderful new years in Eleuthera with the family. It was much better spending those last few days here in the Bahamas with people who love me instead of alone and cold in Ottawa. The time there was beneficial despite all of the money I sunk into Starbucks.
I hope though that I don’t have to miss New Years with the family again. I had some issues with Eleuthera, island where I spent 7 of my formative years, and wasn’t ready to face it and what it meant for quite some time. Now I’m ok with it.
It’s hard to believe that the holidays are over and now its back to work. I’ve been spending my days in the archives from 10 – 4:45 (their operating hours) looking at microfilm. So far, so good. Lots of new little discoveries that will hopefully make it back into my thesis. I really have to book it though, those remaining three weeks will go by so fast…
And in case you didn’t know, I will be speaking at the Bahamas Historical Society on the 15th of this month at 6:30 pm on my research-to-date, i.e. The Fergusons of Farm Road. If you are in Nassau, please come and support. (No sleeping!)
