Anybody seen 2008?

After today we will officially be in the last month of the year. The end of December is traditionally a period of reflection for me and this year looks to be no different. I keep my new years resolutions close with me through out the year and I’m trying to finish the last few that I can before 08 is in the books for good. I’m hoping to have as few of my items carry over into ’09 as possible. Because of this last ditch effort I’m guessing the looking forward part will happen late in the month for me.

Jan 09 will actually mark the fifth year of the blog. If you notice I tidied up the side bar a bit. I had to change the archives list to a yearly one instead of monthly. The list was just getting ridiculously long. I think there have only been two months or so when I haven’t had at least one entry. Interestingly I believe they both happened this year. The month in Trinidad this June and when I was working full-time in August… I’m still not entirely sure what blogging is, and this from someone who has three of them, but I do know that I like it. Maybe that’s good enough.

Speaking of the sidebar, I also took off the Grey’s Anatomy widget. Would you believe the bastards at ABC actually put an ad for Microsoft in there? I’m putting an ad for them on my webpage and they decide they are going to make money off of that. Well fuck them. Especially since season five has been an unmitigated disaster. It’s like they fired the old creative staff and all of the new writers are learning on the job. Thing is that when you get attached to a show like this one, you tend to give them a very long rope. It’s already no longer must watch TV, and is something I check out when I get the time. If they keep it up, I won’t even remember them. Here’s hoping the new season of LOST doesn’t follow suit…

I must report that I had to part with my beloved MacBook for part of a day last week. The white MacBook had a structural defect that made the front of the case chip. I should have taken a picture of it… My one year warranty ran out on the 29th so last week was my last chance to let Apple deal with the issue. (I have an extended something with Future Shop, the place where I bought it, but what they do, I’m not entirely sure — they even recommended I take it to Apple) I thought they would just replace the part and because it was a structural thing, it would keep happening, and eventually I would have to carry it in again, but no! I get it back and they have replaced the entire top of the computer. I swear the keyboard feels different. The trackpad is definitely different. And by different, I mean better. Everything has a nice surface to it now, what was once smooth and slippery is nice and tactile. Even the trackpad has grip now. The Apple guy said that the part is reinforced. No kidding. That’s what you call going the extra mile. Good job Apple.

Ok then. Bye bye November. It was nice knowing you.
