Thanksgiving

It is Thanksgiving, the general time when you give thanks. I’m thankful for this wonderful warm period that Ottawa is having. Warm enough in fact to wear long-sleeve tee-shirts outside without feeling cold. Hooray!

I’m supposed to be heading back to the Bahamas, but the processing times on student permit renewals is five months, so that may not happen. I’m not thankful about that.

I’m not eating any turkey today. More reasons for gladness. I’m not too enamored with that bird. A very dry and tasteless meat. Mom used to make some nice barbecued turkey wings back in the day and a mean turkey-carcass stew but other than those recipes I can’t think of any reasons to eat the darned thing. I believe most of the turkey I have consumed has been disguised as beef. Ground turkey anyone?

And, Yes, I agree turkey-carcass stew is a very unappetizing name. Accurate yet morbid. Maybe you can make some for Halloween.

And I’m thankful to be at peace. Generally and in most things. I have no where near the drama I had last year this time. No long-distance (the g.f. is here in Ottawa yay!), no heavy marking load, no classes. What more could I want?
