Traitor
Saw an awesome movie last weekend. “Traitor” starring Don Cheadle. A film that focuses on a lot of the hot-button topics of today, terrorism, nationalism, patriotism, Islam… Some of the same things that were featured in Jamie Foxx’s “The Kingdom“, but this film and that are separated by a very wide chasm. I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone, and judging by the box office receipts not many people are giving this film much of a chance, but imagine an thriller dealing with terrorism where the hero is a devout Muslim. In essence this is a hollywood movie that doesn’t pander to lowest common denominator logic. It asks all of the tough questions and absolutely nails the answers, then it has the balls to go further. Amazing piece of cinema.
Just took a moment and looked at the tomatometer score at Rotten Tomatoes and was quite surprised that this film has a mediocre 50% fresh rating. Well I shouldn’t be. This movie thinks a little too far outside of the box to get mainstream understanding. I’m surprised it even got made.
