Coffee or tea?

I’m in Ottawa, spent most of the last few days reading. Read about 12 hours in one day. That’s definitely a new record for me. Spending all my money in coffee shops though, cause I can’t stay awake on my own uncaffeinated power and second, I can’t seem to do serious work at home. So I go out across the street and sit at Bridgehead for 6 hours at a time. The staff are amazing, after all this time, they still look at me as though I just came in for the first time. No familiarity, no trying to guess what I would probably order… Total anonymity. Oh well.

And, the paper got accepted to that Montreal conference, but I’m having serious second thoughts… I don’t think I’ll be ready in time. I only started reading the documents last week. It’s too soon! And as someone said, there is also next year…

We should meet up the next time you’re in Toronto, for a coffee or something.

As for conferences, there can never be too few, and it’s better to get started on them and get used to them early. I also encourage getting familiar with making presentations. Besides, they’re the only other way you get to meet people in your field, and forge the contacts and networks that’ll help build your career…
