Going.
The time has come. I’m leaving for Toronto today, carrying my duffel bag of books with me. I should also see Uncle Tom from Nassau on Thursday, I’m still thinking of where to take him. Looking forward to that too. Funny that Toronto has become, in many ways, home…
I did my tutorial classes again yesterday. I wonder if I’m losing them. I have a funny time block where I have a graduate class from 11:30 – 2:30 then I go straight into tutorial one from 2:30 – 3:30 then 3:30 – 4:30. So it’s a pretty non-stop day for me. I’m not trying to be liked here; I believe I just want to convey some kind of information successfully. My job is a discussion group facilitator and I believe I’m trying to do too much of the talking. I guess I’m trying to make them comfortable as well, so that they can learn.
I feel comfortable up there too. I get lost sometimes and fumble a bit, and forget what I was saying (As is wont to happen when you have a half dozen things flowing through your mind at a given moment), but I’m not getting flustered. I do have a much more profound respect for good teachers now. Not the easiest thing in the world to be sure.
