Transforming

Let me just say that “Transformers” the live action movie, stinks to high heaven. I thought Spider man 3 was bad, but this is inexcusable. It opened well enough, and the scenes with Bernie Mac were really funny, but it gradually devolved into shit.

To see these supposedly intelligent super robots hiding from Shia LaBeouf’s character’s parents in the back yard was an embarrassingly stupid moment, and it got worse from there. The fate of the world is on 200 year old glasses that are irrelevant as soon as they are secured. Wonderful. I used to play with these toys when I was growing up and in my imagination they were never stupid, lumbering things. The screenwriters borrowed from “Independence Day” and the “Men in Black” movies far too liberally; unnecessary additions to a franchise with its own rich mythology from the comics, cartoons and toys already in existence. Anyway. It’s out. Overheard a lot of people say that they loved it and one girl said she would buy the DVD on the day it came out. Good for them.

Well the movie was my celebration for writing a check. See, I secured an apartment yesterday. I liked it. It was a decent compromise on a number of levels: it has good location, it has the space I want, private entrance, and a great price. However, I saw something today that is a bit more money, but is much more apartment for an extra 60 bucks a month. Can you say: “Room with a view?”

So the main question then, is what is the main thing for me? Is it price? Is it location? Is it space? Or is it the magic combination of all those things plus on-site laundry? I’m gonna have to make up my mind soon. I must have looked at over 25 apartments here and let me tell you that anything I see now has got to be better than what I’ve already seen on at least one of the big three areas. But it’s getting easier. I know what I want more than before; I can look at a long list of places and narrow it down to the one or two that will interest me. And I’m not booking appointments with places that are out of the question either… I want to go home.

Surprisingly starting to feel more like an adult, which in my mind means “Responsible”. And not in the way that I used to understand it. I was responsible at York. I did my assignments and went to class when I was supposed to. Read what I was supposed to read, ate relatively well, cleaned up my shit after me. But “Responsible” means more now. It’s not just doing stuff, but figuring out for yourself what it is that needs to be done. In essence it means to be driven from within rather than from without. Sure there are a lot of ‘responsible’ people out there, but how many of them are the true setters of their agenda?

Hmmm…

woah. i actaully loved the movie. i never watched the original series or played with the toys either (girls played with jem and strawberry shortcake and my little pony)

i actually laughed with the scene you hate (hiding) cause it seemed like these huge creatures trying to adapt so such a smaller exisestence — think of Gulliver in Liliputt.

I do see your point with the glasses though.

It was funny. That you laughed is why I hate it. In my mind they shouldn’t be so funny, at least for something supposedly so serious.

Did you see the subtle nod to “My little pony” in the film?
