Day Two
Somehow you want it all to just work out. And of course you want it to be easy. But it isn’t. It never was. Never will be. Truth be told, my expectations for the trip changed when I got here. This was mainly just supposed to be reconnaissance. Scope out the city, meet my supervisor, see a few apartments. Get an idea of the lay of the land. The above have been successfully accomplished.
Once I got here though I decided that those modest ambitions were too modest and that maybe, just maybe, I could hit a home run on the first pitch. Frustration they say, is a result of our expectations. If you are frustrated, then you should check your expectations and see if they are in line with reality.
(The Tao te Ching and the Buddha teach that you should get rid of the expectations entirely and accept each moment on its own terms…)
Reality is that I’m going to have to come back here…

That was a good food for thought for me today.
