On graduating…
York wants me to stay longer and suck a bit more money out of me. Well they tried. Imagine my surprise when I checked the “view your 2007 graduation status” on the York website and found out that I was “not eligible” to graduate. A shock to say the least. Thanks to some prudent advice I worked on the problem over email and got it resolved today with help from the chairs of my two majors. Turns out there was one course that both majors claimed as their own, therefore the auditor thought I was 3 credits short in one of them… I was already looking into back up classes that would cover the missing 3 credits. An emergency back up – to be sure. I would even have to cut this little trip short… Heaven forbid.
The election campaign is under way and the race is heating up. I went to the FNM rally last night. Lots and lots of people. I didn’t carry my camera. I know I should have, but I didn’t feel like it. (insert long rant on my disinterest in snapshots here). Most disturbing was a christmas / religious song, “To God be the Glory,” that they played when the leader Hubert Ingraham came through the crowd. “And give Him the glory, great things He has done” – Absolutely cringe inducing. A total Twilight zone moment. But the crowd loved it. I mean, these guys aren’t saints. This we all should know. So why make them into gods? Oh well.
The level of debate, or should I say the lack thereof is also pretty disturbing. An entire campaign of hints, lies and allegations. This is supposed to be democracy right?

York’s a piece of ass; I’m right now really annoyed that I won’t be getting any funding this summer while I’m out doing fieldwork, but I’ve still got full-priced tuition fees to pay. It just really makes me so angry.

Hey Serene – York is biznasty all the time. The profs are cool but admin has no heart.
Ketra, yeah you have to double and triple check it. Thing is I thought all was cleared up when I got advised in SEPT from both of my faculties. I didn’t triple check and therefore the snag. So yes, do what you have to do to make sure.
