Geburtstag!
Well, it turns out that my birthday wasn’t as over as I thought it was. Turns out that Theresa had another surprise up her sleeve for me. Yes, a surprise party! Boy was I surprised. Did not see this coming at all.
She told me she wanted to see “CRASH” the movie at Uni Hohenheim, which was supposed to have this little screening with pizza etc. Now I had seen Crash twice already, (it’s a great movie, yes. A tad heavy-handed to me though…) but I didn’t mind going to see it again. I was all dressed and ready to go. Then the doorbell rang. I’m thinking it’s the mail / parcel guy who wants to give you a parcel for someone else in the building. I open the door and in comes all of Theresa’s friends singing “happy birthday”. What do you know!
Here is me being surprised. ![]()
(more photos tomorrow hopefully…)
We had a wonderful evening, lots of food and drink and good company to boot. I got a few pressies, a nice Uni Hohenheim Tee and a Stuttgart big beer mug. Splendid! Have you ever seen a grill blazed up with a hair dryer? Neither did I before the party. But it sure does work!
That was Thursday. Saturday, we went to see STOMP! That rousing percussion-by-any-means-neccessary theatre show. Wow! Of course you can’t call it a “play” as there is no story. But a musical extravaganza it turned out to be. These guys were making music with plastic bags and cigarette lighters! A real fun show. It also helped me see how easy it is to get people to laugh in theatre. Ian had told me this years ago, but I finally got it.
We spent Sunday in Muhlacker with Theresa’s parents. They always have the nicest food. My god. I really think I ate too-much this weekend. Between Muhlacker and the birthday, looks like I’ll have to go to the gym tomorrow!!
