Rainy day

It looks like its going to be raining alllll day today. Not too pretty. Just came from History of the Caribbean. We are now up to the Haitian revolution. I’m so intruiged by that event. Former slaves coming together to beat the super-powers of the day. Inspiring. Of course when we think of the situation in Haiti today, we usually have a “yeah they won their freedom, but what did it get them?” type of attitude. True. Haiti has paid the cost of the revolution for sure. Literally too. But reading and learning about that country makes me want to learn more. Such a complex situation, and it is very relevant to my country, the Bahamas. Maybe I could do my masters in Haitian History? Hmmm….

Back to the question of the essay… still working on it. I’m running on about 2 hours of sleep. I almost have an idea of what to write. Almost. I honestly don’t think that I’ll finish this thing before Friday. I just don’t see it. The question Prof gave us has to be the weirdest I’ve ever seen… well almost. One I got last year in Post-Colonial Caribbean Lit still takes the cake. But this one is funny, cause it looks vague at first glance, but the more you think about it, its very specific. I don’t like that. Too tricky for me.

I’m hungry now. I was hoping that the rain would ease up and allow me a nice walk home. But alas it doesn’t appear that such a break in the weather is coming (at least according to the accuweather people) so I’ll trudge home in the ickiness and make myself something to eat. Then sleep. Then essay. The joys!! ;)
